Club Áras na nGael holds a traditional music session every Saturday nigh from 8:30pm. Among the many well-known musicians who call in to play are Murphen Kobald, Méabh Ní Thuathaláin, Mike Ó hÉanaigh, James Frawley, Seoasamh and Sadhbh Ó Fatharta and plenty of others besides.
Musicians are more than welcome to call in on the night to take part in this long-established session which has been running since the club was opened in 1986.
Learners' Evening or Oíche na bhFoghlaimeoirí is on every Monday evening from 7:30pm to 8.30pm. This is a great chance to practice whatever Irish you have in an informal, friendly setting. The group plays board games, discusses different topics and learns a few new phrases every evening. The main aim is building confidence in speaking the language with others and enjoying it. You can call in any time and new people are always welcome.
World Culture Club
World Culture Club takes place every Friday in Club Áras na nGael. It's always a great night in Club Áras because of the wide range of music and interesting people present. It kicks off at 9pm until 12.30am and there's a 5 euro chrage on the door.
Every Tuesday night in Club Áras na nGael is student night.
Galway is a fantastic place for students and the Club is a cosy, close-knit place with a different vibe to other bars and clubs. Whether it's a night of great music or one of the special themed nights arranged with the university societies, it's always worth calling in.
Club Áras na nGael has a slow session every Monday between 8:30pm agus 10:00pm. The session is aimed at musicians of all levels with a special welcome for those who don't have much session experience and who would like to change that. The session is open and laid back and gives a warm welcome to musicians who are still improving or have started a new instrument. We play at a speed suitable for everyone and try a new tune together every now and then.
Club Áras na nGael hosts sean-nós (meaning old-style) dancing classes with teacher Pádraig Ó hOibicín. Pádraig is well renown as a dancing teacher and has won the Oireachtas competition. These classes are available at different levels, meaning that they are perfect for anyone who would like to improve or for those who are just starting out.
